Give your Can-Am Defender HD7 the lift and torque it needs to tackle tougher terrain. SuperATV’s 6” Portal Gear Lift combines extra ground clearance with a built-in gear reduction, so you can run bigger tires without sacrificing power. Choose a 30%, 45%, or 60% gear reduction and cast or billet aluminum housings. For maximum strength, step up to our game-changing dual-idler portals.
What Is a Dual Idler?
Our dual-idler portals are the result of years of research, development, and testing. A second idler gear spreads the load across twice the surface area to deliver more dependable torque transfer and incredible gear strength. But two idlers only work when they mesh perfectly. That’s why we precision-grind our gears using advanced CNC equipment and make them from ultra-tough 9310 steel alloy.
Choose the Right Gear Reduction
The right gear reduction depends on how you ride. Choose 30% for a balance of speed and extra torque. A 45% reduction gives you more control and power for bigger tires and rougher trails. If you’re building an unstoppable mud machine, go with a 60% reduction and add dual idlers for even more strength.
Protect Your Drivetrain
GDP Portals put the gear reduction at the hubs instead of inside your transmission. This reduces the load on your Defender HD7’s axles, driveshaft, differential, and transmission. Less stress means less wear and a lower chance of expensive drivetrain repairs.
Built for Serious Abuse
You need portals that can take a beating without becoming another maintenance headache. GDP Portals use your choice of cast or billet aluminum housings along with 5/16” backing plates made from advanced steel alloy. They’re built for brutal terrain and backed by a lifetime warranty.
- Our housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow
- Advanced steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly
- Enhance with Portal Blood—gear oil formulated for GDP Portals
- There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
Premium Gaskets, Seals, and Bearings
Every internal component is designed to keep your gears protected, properly aligned, and running smoothly.
Our portals use:
- Advanced gaskets and O-rings with excellent oil resistance and low deterioration rates
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
- Double-angular contact output bearings to prevent premature wear
- Roller idler and drive bearings to maintain perfect gear meshing
Strengthen Your Frame
Portals and oversized tires let you push your Defender HD7 harder, but they also put additional stress on its frame. Add a SuperATV Frame Stiffener to reinforce your suspension mounting points and protect your machine.
